“I am scared, you are scared, we are all scared. " The coronavirus is now among us. This evil stranger originating in Asia has spread its tentacles everywhere in the world. Today, the spread of the virus and its effects has been classified as a pandemic. The pandemic is problematic due to its rapid spread and negative effects on our life
As of today, the statistics show that the death toll is at 30,000. Above, I've mentioned how this pandemic may impact our lives: physically, mentally, and socially. However, for the sake of my motivation for the cause of mental health and human dignity, I'll focus on the pandemic of coronavirus on mental health. Indeed, I'll talk about how the effects of the coronavirus pandemic on financial security, loneliness, quarantine or confinement, fear, isolation, and human limit toward the propagation of the virus can impact mental health.
Besides death, one of the consequences of the coronavirus is the financial security of companies and workers. Many companies have to discontinue their operations therefore leading to furloughed employees or let employees go. For employees who will not get help from their government, or who don't have savings for their basic needs until they go back to normal, the stress created by such situations can be the greatest enemy to one's mental health. The unknown regarding the end of this pandemic worries everyone about their finances.

Loneliness is also another consequence of coronavirus. For example, some elderly or weak people who live by themselves cannot run their usual errands due to social distancing and voluntary confinement. People living in nursing homes, sick people in hospitals, or single people are significantly more vulnerable. Reports also show that animal shelters have a higher demand for pets as people are seeking some kind of companionship during this time of social distancing and quarantine.
In the US, confinement or quarantine is not yet mandatory like in Asia, Europe, and Africa, but time will tell. Confinement, quarantine, or social distancing is a consequence of the coronavirus, but are necessary measures to limit the spread of the virus. Unfortunately, these necessary measures have caused the closing of all schools, most businesses, and society in general. Everyone is cautious of everyone; even a simple cold is suspected to be coronavirus. Sneezing and coughing
g around someone without being eyed at is impossible. How many of us have had to block natural behavior such as sneezing because of allergies or strong scents?
Finally, let’s talk about the human limits in regards to putting a halt to this pandemic. China, Europe, and the US are among the most powerful countries in the world. They can create wealth, create great technologies, predict the weather, anticipate attacks, and so on.But this coronavirus has shown our limits as human beings.Regardless of all the available Doctors, Professors, researchers, and the money available, the coronavirus has infected more than 500,000 people and killed about 30,000.We are all powerless, trying to cope with our fear, our new way of interacting with each other, and the unknown about our financial situation aftermath. What's next? When is this virus going to be eliminated or defeated? What’s next? What's next? What’s next? …..
